Passion
From the moment I started my career, I saw that education is so much more than teaching core reading, writing, and math skills but the much more important are the functional skills such as peer interactions, problem solving, and general life skills. There is nothing better than watching the progress children make and seeing them generalize their skills outside of the classroom. I saw immediately the impact a teacher has on development, and have pursued work over the last 10+ years in both private and public schools as a teacher, a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, and now a Bristow Center Mentor!

Passion
I have worked with both special education children and general education students for the last 20+ years and I have seen firsthand the deficits in social skill functioning in children today as well as their importance. Social Skills remediation will help kids be able to communicate more effectively, problem solve, make and keep friends, and more easily adapt to situations that are unfamiliar to them. I love my job and I get a great sense of achievement from seeing the students that I work with develop and grow as individuals. This is why I am so excited to be on the Mentor team at the Bristow Center so I can be a part of teaching these specific skill sets and have an even further positive impact on these children's futures.
